Dimethicone.. in my shampoo D:?!

Molecular Formula: (C 2 H 6 OSi) n
Density:  965 kg m -3
Yes mates, as you could see, now is time to talk about DIMETHICONE. But what is that?, why do I say that is in my shampoo? Well, our new mate dimethicone has a crush with silicone, that's why they're together in a certain way. Actually, dimethicone is an inert silicone surfactant properties.

But how does it work?, Where can I find it?, Dimethicones is commercially presented in tablets, drops, emulsion, and it works by reducing the surface tension of gas bubbles facilitating disintegration. That's why it's present in medicines recomended to reduce colics in babies, aerofagia, bloating, cramping or abdominal pain after surgery

But wait, it's not only present in medicines as "Espaven" or others. We can find it in many other products like palmolive's shampoos and as the one that I use called "Caprice maxi-gloss". However, dimethicone is also present in make-up, eye shadows, facial products as moisturizer and other brand's shampoos.

Don't you want to prove it? It's easy, just take a look in the ingredient's label in one of the products I mentioned above and you will see my friend (:

Good luck and as always, let's heat our chemistry ;)

Hi mates! , this blog is called "Heathen Chemistry" and do you know why? Well, if you're really oasis' fans as I am, you would know that is the name of one of their first albums. Actually, my profile picture is Noel Gallagher, lead guitarrist of this glorius band.

But OK, let's go back to the main purpose of this blog, "Heathen Chemistry" is principally my entire life related to Chemistry ,and you know, compounds, elements, Mendeleiev, and stuff.

For now, I'll upload information that I'm sure will be interesting, not only because are things that I will discover in my course of Chemistry, but 'cause I'll try to relate them to your lifes.
